Unhappy Who is getting help from Failte Ireland's Webcheck?

I've been trying to get a website up and running and on a waiting list for help from Failte Ireland's webcheck since early summer. When I wasn't called in July I was told I would be contacted in September and now I've been told I'll be contacted in January 09.

I still don't have a website while other people I know have been called and got help (which they said was very beneficial). From what I have seen the people who have got help so far are people who already had websites (really good websites at that) and not the people like me who is trying to get a self catering business up and running and need a website to do that.

Has anyone else not been contacted yet or am I just jealous of those of you who have?

I recently submitted for the Failte Ireland Webcheck and they are to get back to me, also in January. I hope they do but I think it will be necessary to keep the push on them...he who shouts loudest and all that!

Default Failte Ireland ---web training

I also applied for training early in Summer and was told it would be in July.
July has come and gone and I am now told it will be January.
It looks like we will have to wait and hope for better things in 2009.

Default Web Check

Hi all,

My name is Catriona Walsh of OSD Ltd. We are the Failte Ireland eBusiness Consultants for the North West. I'm delighted to hear you are looking forward to getting assistance with the new Failte Ireland initiative. To tell you a little more about it: The new initiative is designed to specifically respond to needs of tourism SME's and provides support specifically to tourism SME's. There will be a significant investment by Failte Ireland over the 3 years of the initiative.

Web-Check provided at no cost to SME's
Web Check - Will give the benefit of tailored response and independent advice provided on a 1 -2-1 basis.

Web-Build for those SME's requiring more significant input - these need to submit application (along with registration fee) & e-business plan supporting application, which will be evaluated on a case by case basis and if accepted - the degree of funding (subject to defined limit per establishment) for additional input by Failte Ireland appointed independent Consultants will be assessed.

Web-skills workshops to support SME's (including those who have participated in web-check & web-build ) scheduled to run commencing Nov 08 - held regionally attendance @ €50.00 fee payable in advance.

In relation specifically to the Web Check. As you would expect there has been huge interest to date for web-check 500+ SME's registered from all tourism sectors!!

250 will be completed nationwide by Dec 08 & the balance of registrations have been retained for allocation in three months (January), repeating allocation throughout the year.

If you have not already registered:

Online registration at www.failteireland.ie/performanceplus

Kind Regards,
Catriona

Catriona,

Thanks for that information about web check. I suppose if there are over 500looking for help and half of them will have been helped by the end of the year, then the rest of us should get sorted by early January. I don't feel so left out so if there are 250 of us still to be called. I am still in the process of re-registering with Failte Ireland for 2009 (not that easy) and was thinking of not bothering, but now I think it will be of benefit and I will persevere.

Has anyone else found the re-registering a bit of a pain (if you had a 3 star property, you now only have a 1 star!). Its a bit confusing.

Unhappy register where?

Catriona, thank you for your clear information and guidance.

I was at a Failte Ireland training in relation to marketing angling services in Cavan Monaghan yesterday, which was excellent and has made me think about new ways of working with ghillies in the area.

at this training day, we were given this email address to register webdevproject.registration@failteireland.ie ... is this correct?

thanks!

Default Online registration at www.failteireland.ie/performanceplus

Hi all,

There will be a new website presence in the future but for now I would suggest
Online registration at www.failteireland.ie/performanceplus
Because even if you email they will still be looking for details from you.

We will be contacting those registered to date before Christmas and meeting them after Christmas for the Web Check.

For those of you who are waiting now is the time to do your web research and review your web sites performance over the last year and list any questions you may have.

Hope this helps,
