Lightbulb start with irish internet association

Hi Tommy!
Welcome aboard! There are plenty of good web-developers & equally as many bad ones, but I would reccommend you refine your search to members of the Irish Internet Association and check there 'resources' section which has plenty of tips & hints... It does depend what level of effort your going to put in to maintaining your own site, as that dictates what your going to pay in the long term for maintaining the site.
There should be plenty of knowledgeable people on this site to give you more specific ideas!
Oh We're are planning another advanced E-business course run over 5 days and it should begin in C/blayney in late March or early April....Watch this space.

Thanks for reminding us John and highly recommended was your last course by several participants, and certainly there is nothing to beat learning about web design from scratch, and I see a couple of courses listed in the Anglo Celt last week, one of which I can myself recommend: ~

Cavan Institute are enroling on Wednesday 16th Jan for their next round of courses between 6.30pm and 9.00pm.
Web Design and Development Course (Introduction), one evening per week for 10 weeks at a cost of 150 euro. Will teach you the basics of HTML and will show you how to go about creating your own website from scratch. A very good course to start off with.

Cavan County Enterprise Board are offering a training programme for small businesses, contact Sharon on 049-4377200.
Website Marketing & Optimisation course, 4 evenings plus one site visit commencing Thursday 21st February, cost 40 euro. Obviously for businesses which already have their own website or in the thinking process of developing one.

Default Recommending: Active Online for your Web Design Needs

Hi There,
There are a lot of Good Web designers out there (and not all are members of the IIA) who can stand on their own merit by the quality of their work and customer service. One such outfit is Active Online (http://www.activeonline.ie).

Active Online are not the cheapest, however the quality of their design work and Internet marketings expertise is worth the extra cost. They also have experience in the hospitality Industry, having designed websites for Inbound Golf Tour Operators and Accommodation suppliers. Check out their portfolio and Call Jeremiah on 01 6174886 for an informal chat about your needs.

Whatever about having designs on owning your own website, I think that what much of Cavan and Monaghan needs at the moment is a reliable Broadband provider.

Thumbs up Web Design

Hello Tommy, I have just completed The Advanced E Business Course run by Cavan Monaghan Rural Development. I would advise anyone wanting to build a web site or up grade your existing one, this course is well worth doing. I up graded my own site www.eonishlodge.com with the help of www.sitestogo.biz .By doing this course I was more informed on what I needed and new what to discuss with the web developer, and understood what they were talking about. I now have a site that I can edit at any time I wish.

I have Eircom broadband and it is great. I live in a rural area and feel very lucky that we are able to have broad band here. I did the test suggested by Virginian and my download speed is 879 kbps and upload speed is 91 kbps, is this good? I am happy with the performance but am no expert on these results. I agree it is important to have a broadband connection to enjoy the benefits of the Internet.

Thats interesting Geraldine, I am with Perlico and my Broadband Download speed is 875kbps and Upload is just 55kbps. My cousin in England is with BT and has a Download speed of 460kbps and upload of 235kbps.
I am also reasonably happy with the service but perhaps someone here will tell us what the optimum is.

Arrow Advanced E-Business Course now available

CMRD have organised another Advanced E-business Course... There has been a high level of interest shown in this course already and it really does help individual tourism businesses to recognise the potential of E-marketing and how they can manage their own web-sites.

The course will commence at 9.30am on Wednesday 30th April and will run for five consecutive weeks. Further details and application forms etc can be found by following this link: http://www.cmrd.ie/training-and-events-page40775.html

What do YOU think about this training? Does anyone know about other ICT based training that you have participated on or are thinking about participating in?

See below a list of some of the web-sites that have been developed and/or benefited from previous E-business training:
