hello all,
i own a small green business and i was contacted by www.globalwarming.ie a website offering to list my business in their green directory. the package seemed affordable so i agreed to advertise with them however its been a very long time and i still haven't seen any results in addition they no longer answer my phone calls or reply to my e-mails. i'm afraid i've been cheated out of my money. does any one have any information about the owners of this site?

I am not sure if I can help, but the website that you refered to seems to have only been launched recently and perhaps you have not given it a chance yet! I guess your business in Co Wicklow because there is only one tourism business listed in their 'green' directory.
On one hand it looks reputable enough and you should give them a bit of a chance... But on the other, what criteria are they operating from to say that any of the businesses in the green directory are 'eco this or that'... Personally, I am very sceptical of any business that calls themselves green or 'eco'.... We all have some part of our lives that does not confirm to the green philosophy, that is unless we are going to live in the trees, in the mountains and never go anywhere (unless on a bicycle or walking)...
OK... there is the Green Box (www.greenbox.ie) who are trying to put some order on the green principles of tourism in Ireland at least. You could try asking them.
 Why did you put a link to the offending web-site on your message:confused: you are only directing more visitors to there site and providing them with more business... Mmmmmm
Gud luck

Like a lot of directories, I find that they have a limited shelf life and a limited distribution, most are only up dated once a year (if that). At least with Golden Pages you know that it will be delivered to practically every door, because the door to door distributors get paid commission on the number of drops they make. So divide the cost of advertising by the number of copies distributed and there you will find the true cost of your advertising spend, and the better are the chances of someone actually reading your advertisement. I know from my own experience that most advertising publishers who make their money out of adverts are not in the least bit worried about the end result.

that's an interesting site
ahh now that's not very fair - I run an online directory and am updating every day!! I have a blog and pages and pages of information that I have built up over a few years all in my own free time. So perhaps the lady in question would like a free ad from me to show that we're not all bad!!! Just email me your details and I will put up an ad for you!
just this one lady tho...
