Major food tourism event coming to Waterford
This four-day gastronomic festival will be held for the first time ever in Ireland in September 2008. The event, hosted by Slow Food Ireland in association with Bord Bia, will take place in Waterford City and the South East from 4 to 7 September 2008 and is regarded as ‘a must’ for food producers, for all who have an interest food policy and preparing food, and for the general public as consumers.
Events include a one-day conference of workshops, where the concerns of various food communities and their vision for the future will be debated, a monster barbecue for 1,000 people in Waterford City, a major Farmers Market, a Gala Dinner and Awards ceremony, culinary demonstrations, tours to artisan food manufacturers, visits to speciality producers and best practice farms, as well demonstrations from chefs, tastings, picnics and competitions.
