I'm just after registering on this site - and i'm trying to work out how to send a message to members (hope this works!!!)
I use a computer at work only but am thinking of getting a lap top for home use. Anybody any ideas as to whom I should approach - i'm definitely not a whizz kid with IT and would like to have some sort of support package wherby I could actually contact and speak to some (patient!) person when I run into problems. Any suggestions would be welcome

Depends of course on how much you are prepared to spend and what you want to use it for. Dell laptops for instance start cheap and then the price increases dramaticly when you start to include the extra's. I use a Sony laptop which I am comfortable with, but then I don't do video's and games which tend to require the extra memory capacity as does CAD applications. Newer machines use the Windows Vista operating systems which some folks say is not as good the earlier Windows XP version.
My daughter recently got an Apple MacBook which was recommended by her college. The 2.4 GHz version comes in white and weighs just 2.27kg which is great for carrying around, has just about everthing that she will probably need including a built in webcam. With 2GB of memory & 160GB Hard Drive with Wireless and Bluetooth, this is an excellent laptop for the price of around 1250 euro. You can buy direct from http://www.apple.com or from PC World. :)

I would also recommend Apple Macs. I use Windows at work and Macs at home so I am in a good position to compare them. I have much fewer problems with my Mac and find them easier to use. In addition to Apple's web site, a good spot to look for Apple Macs to buy is http://ie-apple-computer.gear-online-shop.com/.
