Sometimes I think there is more that we can do to make Tourists welcome and make them feel really at home in the traditional Irish way. What do I mean:confused: Well, I hope that the study trip to visit the Causey Experience (http://www.causeyexperience.com)in Co Meath on Tuesday 3rd April will enlighten the thinking on this matter... They proclaim to offer a 'real Irish experience' and I will ask the study trip participants to post their thoughts here.

A very interesting day - well worth the trip. Everyone enjoys the simple things in life and we had a most enjoyable experience.

:) We had a good day at the Causey Experience. It was a real Irish experience in the sense that we all participated in activities which encouraged us to interact with each other and our hosts. The Murtagh's collectively as a family have the 'gift of the gab' and know how to make everyone feel welcome and ensure that everyone enjoys the day. The simplicity of the activities is what amazed us all!
Each of the tourism businesses that participated have taken something away from this visit and are going to offer these experiences to their guests.... I can't wait to hear about John Moyna's 'siege of venice' dance classes in Knockatallon and Maureen's bodhran classes in Manorhamiliton.
As usual, we also alot about from some of the other study trip participants whom cam farm based businesses in Tyrone (http://www.barrontop.co.uk)and Cavan (http://www.archesfarmhouse.com), which highlighted the rural tourism gaps that are attracting visitors.

I really enjoyed the day trip to Co. Meath. It was nice to see a family who offer to open up their farm and home to visitors. To me it was a 'real Irish experience'! People don't come to Ireland because it has beautiful scenery - you can get that in Spain, France or Italy, our weather isn't great and we are expensive in comparison to other countries. Visitors come to Ireland for our chat, personality and craic. That's what we need to give them - it doesn't cost us very much and gives huge returns!

Keep up the good work guys and I hope others are inspired!
